Jacobs has partnered with NASA to support space flight programs for more than 40 years. While the majority of work is directly in support of LaRC, other industry partners and Government agencies may be supported at remote sites as directed by the Contracting Officer (CO). The Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering (CMOE) contract comprises of three major categories of work – operations, maintenance, and engineering (OME). A brief description of each category is: Maintenance – Research and institutional facility maintenance includes, but not limited to, preventive maintenance, trouble calls, repairs, Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Facility Condition Assessment (FCA), and maintenance/operation of central utilities (e.g., electrical power distribution, potable water, storm water drainage)
Operations – Facilities Operations support includes, but not limited to, wind tunnels, laboratories, and test stands testing, instrumentation calibration/repair; plant and utilities (e.g., high pressure air, Liquid Nitrogen (LN2) and Steam Plant); technology development and administration, including, but not limited to, Facility Automation Systems (FAS) and Data Acquisition Systems (DAS)
Engineering – Facility engineering includes, but not limited to, engineering studies, design, construction, construction management, configuration management, tactical engineering, pressure system recertification, project management/planning support.
Evaluates the desired goal of the system and develops, designs, or selects the required equipment, controls, piping, to achieve the goal
Designs building infrastructure systems (HVAC, Plumbing, and Utilities) using prescribed methods, and performs specific and limited portions of broader assignments
Performs calculations and evaluations in the design of equipment and systems for industrial and commercial applications
Has comprehensive understanding of principles, theories, concepts, industry practices, standards, and their application as relevant to designing facility Mechanical systems
Responsible for performing all aspects of engineering and design
May provide some technical guidance to less experienced design and engineering personnel
Participates in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects
Ensures that construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications, recognized codes and standards, and customer requirements
Maintains effective communication with project team members and with the customer
May direct and coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations
Use of computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks
U.S. Citizenship is required. BS degree from an accredited engineering ABET school and three (3) to five (5) years related engineering experience, or MS degree from an accredited engineering ABET school and two (2) to three (3) years of related engineering experience, or Ph.D. from an accredited engineering ABET school.
Proficiency with Microsoft Applications is required
Ability to work independently and complete tasks as scheduled is required
Good interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team environment is required
PE registration preferred

Test/Industrial Environment – May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals and industrial facilities.(20%)
Travel between various facilities/test operations is required and may bring exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment operation. (20%)
Potential exposure to high noise levels, hazardous chemicals, propellants and the like. (20%)
Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions.
Must be able to sit for extended periods and navigate a variety of building levels and surfaces (100%)
