The Team

Corporate Communications is responsible for Ferguson’s corporate reputation to include press and media relations, executive and associate communications and engagement, crisis communications, corporate social responsibility and sustainability, along with the evolution of the company intranet. The team ensures the community, company stakeholders and 25,000 associates are engaged and understand the direction of the company.

We are searching for a passionate and energetic intern to join our dynamic team for the summer. We are looking for someone with an interest in business communications to add a fresh perspective and value to the team’s corporate social responsibility and sustainability program as well as associate communications and public relations. It’s a great opportunity to work in a large, highly-regarded corporation and engage with associates at all levels of the organization. Expectations & Tasks

  • Maintain Ferguson Cares communication

  • Proactively generate new Ferguson Cares social media content

  • Create compelling stories for placement in earned and owned channels, including company’s intranet

  • Work with public relations team to generate content / pitches that may be of interest

  • Assist with associate communications and engagement

  • Develop and implement business-outcomes based communications plans

  • Maintain and update Heritage Center content, as needed

  • Other duties as assigned

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong sense of professionalism; ability to interact with associates at all levels of the organization

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with social media

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

  • Self-driven and detail-oriented, resourceful and proactive, demonstrated success in moving projects from start to finish with minimal supervision

  • Interest in building and maintaining relationships with community partners and associates

  • Experience with MS Office software (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)

Educational Requirements

  • Qualified candidates who wish to apply, at a minimum, should be in or have completed their third year of undergraduate study

  • Students with concentrations in all major areas are encouraged to apply

  • Previous work experience is preferred
